Review: Knickerocker Black Cat Crop Top and Panties

I really don’t love running multiple reviews one after the other after the other, A. because I get bored of my own face and B. I feel like the blog then becomes product product product, but unfortunately I didn’t plan properly and now I have a backlog of reviews to get through before year end. So buckle up, I guess?]

This is the cutest, and I’ve wanted it forever, because I don’t know if you know this, but surprise, I love cats.

APPEARANCE

This adorable little loungewear set is made by Knickerocker, an independent brand based in the UK and specializing in ethically made, beautifully crafted, and delightfully whimsical lingerie and loungewear. The Black Cat set is one of several animal-themed crop top and brief sets; you can also get mouse, fox, panda, bunny, pig, bear, badger, raccoon, and both ginger and striped cats. Made of super soft stretch cotton, the set features a smiling cat’s face appliqued across the front of the short-sleeved crop top and the seat of the knickers, as well as soft ears attached at the shoulder seams of the top and the waistband of the briefs. The design is delightfully spare, just two big yellow eyes, a pink nose, whiskers, and a smile, and that simplicity of keeps the cuteness appealingly cool and kitsch, instead of overwhelming.

One note is that this soft lovely black cotton picks up cat fur like you would not believe, but it’s okay, you’re already wearing a cat face on your boobs and butt, I think people will understand.

FIT

I followed the size advice in Knickerocker’s Etsy policies and purchased a size L for the briefs and an XL for the crop top. The briefs fit very well– they’re a little lower cut than my preference, but they’re very much a standard bikini brief, so that wasn’t a huge surprise. If I’d been ordering from Knickerocker directly I might have requested a custom size for the crop top. It fits around me well, but because my bust is so full, it comes up a little shorter on me than it does on the models (my height may also be a factor). I’d like it to be just a little bit longer — just 1-2 inches more — so that I can lift my arms over head comfortably without worrying about it riding up, especially when I’m wearing it without a bra.

COMFORT

So, weird observation: I have literally never owned or worn a crop top before in all my 32 years on this fine planet, and psychologically it’s kind of weird, but not because of tummy issues, but because of the sleeves? I don’t know, my brain gets confused when I wear it: because it feels like a nice cotton tee shirt I keep thinking said tee-shirt has just ridden up and I need to tug it down over my tummy, and then it’s like “nope, kiddo, that’s as far as your shirt goes, you’re good.” Other than that nonsense it is a comfy cotton dream to wear– completely soft and breathable, with an extra helping of whimsy!

OVERALL

There’s a cat face on my butt you guys.
