I attended the seasonal Curve trade show in New York in August, and while I will get to a round-up of some of the trends headed our way for Spring/Summer 2016 (I promise!), it’s taking me a long time to put the post together. Some of that is because work has kept me very busy (which is a good thing), plus this whole training-for-a-half-marathon thing is super duper time-consuming, and some of that is because, while I thought it was a much stronger show than the weirdly homogenous Fall/Winter 2015 show, for the full-bust world, there’s not a TON of new shapes or styles or sizes. There are some gorgeous re-colorings of popular favorites, but there wasn’t a lot at the show that made me sit up and go “oooooh!!!!” (I say that now, but I bet you anything come February I’ll be all I-can’t-wait-for-the-Spring/Summer-styles-to-launch).
That being said: Scantilly’s launch has me practically screaming with anticipation. I’ve mentioned Scantilly a few times before, and now the launch is a mere month away! Scantilly is a new collection from the designer of Curvy Kate, bringing that brand’s full-bust know-how to the world of sensual boudoir lingerie, with an initial size range of 30-38 DD-HH. The lookbook presents a tightly curated collection of three styles for October and three styles for November, modeled to absolute perfection by the stunning Lottie Williams (I can’t get over what a spectacular fit she is for this brand). Scantilly brings some of the most popular elements of boudoir lingerie, like ouvert knickers, strapping, sheer and low-cut cups, and coordinating waspies, into a size range that in the past has primarily focused on sweeter, “safer” designs.
I’m really hard-pressed to pick a favorite look– maybe Peek A Boo with its sheer cups and satin gathers under the bust? Maybe Surrender with that stunning sheer-cupped basque? All Wrapped Up, with a detachable tie that can wrap around the bra, brief, or wrists? Gorgeous pink-and-black Invitation, with daringly low-cut cups? Don’t make me choose, y’all.
