Another year, another Valentine’s Day during which Sweets is single, another year where she doesn’t especially fucking care, because there is pretty lingerie out there that she is happy to buy for HERSELF, thank you.
Seriously, Valentine’s Day can be a polarizing holiday (and a stressful one: be in a relationship at all costs, make sure it’s a happy relationship at all costs, buy your partner the greatest present ever at all costs, etc. etc.), but the lingerie that’s out right now is no joke: A. I love red, it looks great on me, so more red lingerie? Awwww, you shouldn’t have! and B. designers tend to release some extra-special collections for this holiday, so yay! and C. some early Spring/Summer styles have shipped so we can start thinking about leaving winter behind, and D. I love all the lingerie anyway, so I feel like I’m still coming out of this thing a winner. I’ve rounded up some of my favorite romantic sets that are available right now. I’ve tried to pull pieces across a range of sizes, styles, and prices, so I hope you, too, will see something you love! Anything on your wishlist?
[P.S. I hope you’ll check out this WONDERFUL blog post, courtesy of Bluestockings Boutique and Rose Wednesday from The Lingerie Addict, because it’s very smart and very insightful and very interesting: On Queer Visibility in Lingerie.]

February 3, 2015 at 12:32 pm (8 years ago)You always have some of the best picks, Sweets! Your eye for detail and uniqueness really sets these apart. 🙂 Because you can never have too many pretty pieces of lingerie, I also recommend the Anna Pardal Sabine and the Comexim Burgundy. A customer ordered the latter, and my aunt and I had to restrain ourselves from stealing it . . . and it wasn’t even in our size!

February 3, 2015 at 1:23 pm (8 years ago)The Isla is a great affordable option. Also, Antoinette looks scrumptious, but I look at all the hooks on a basque and cry. I’ll ponder the bandeau bra.
Valentine’s Day I find creepy in terms of its social implications, but I bought something for myself as well! It’s out of fashion and discontinued- Parfait’s Natalia- but it should be with me for the long haul.

February 3, 2015 at 2:13 pm (8 years ago)I sort of feel, re: Valentine’s Day, like “you know what? If you’re going to put all this lingerie out in February, I’m gonna give in to peer pressure.” Valentine’s Day is an annoying, stressful, weird, un-fun holiday, even if you’re in a relationship/happy with what you’ve got going on: I might as well get something nice for myself out of it.

February 3, 2015 at 4:58 pm (8 years ago)Red’s a wonderful color for me and many others, and many options this year are things I want and could wear anytime. Any day can be an especially-pretty-things day, unless I have to do heavy physical labor on short notice.
I like the Bluestockings’ debate on Valentine’s and how designers seem to be adopting a more ‘it’s about the individual rather than the pleasure of the partner’ stance in their marketing. I hope it stays, even if I think it has a ways to go.

February 3, 2015 at 2:02 pm (8 years ago)Gorgeous picks! I’ve only started reading your blog recently so I’m glad to see such diverse pieces–both sizes and price points. Loving the Isla bra, the price looks right, too. I wonder if it is US or UK sizing.

February 3, 2015 at 2:06 pm (8 years ago)Hi Connie, glad you like it! Isla is by Just Peachy, one of Figleaves’ in-house companies (there’s also an A-D version of the bra), and as such is in UK sizing. Hope that helps!

February 5, 2015 at 12:44 pm (8 years ago)This is such a great, diverse list! Gosh, the things I’d do for that Fleur of England set.. and this is coming from someone who has always been intimidated by the color red (for a long time, brown & navy was the closest my closet got to being colorful)! I wanted to add that I believe the l’Agent Esthar also comes in A32-36.
P.S. Thank you for linking the Blue Stockings post! Such an refreshing conversation. <3

February 6, 2015 at 11:55 am (8 years ago)I love the masquerade basque … I have it in a past season’s colour (green) and ever wear it as outerwear with a sharp blazer and cigarette pants. It’s a must for all girls as will make you feel fantastic!
