Holy crap, you guys. You must go look at this RIGHT NOW: Peek Brooklyn.
I am not exaggerating when I say I want every single thing. Hosiery shopping in the U.S. for lovers of sassy lingerie/stockings can be frustrating, because sometimes it feels like you’re trapped in a desert of Spanx and control tops. I am well-endowed in the leg department, and I like to show them off, but sometimes department-store pantyhose and tights are too short, so I prefer hold-ups (sometimes called thigh-highs), stockings with suspenders/garters, and over-the-knee socks. Finding black and beige sheer hold-ups isn’t too hard, but finding reasonably priced patterns, opaques, and stockings certainly is. The fact that this store’s owner is my cousin’s neighbor is just the icing on the cake. Here are a few of my top picks.
- “Adore Me” Knee Socks. LOVE the little button closure.
- Bound Together Hold-Ups- Transparenze Delhi Hold-Ups. Unfortunately sold out, but HOT. Wow.
- Grey Lace Hold-Ups. A subtler option, and perhaps more, you know, office-appropriate.
- On the Fringe of Society Saucy Hold-Ups. Eeeeeee, look at the fringe! I would sashay around my apartment, trying to make my fringe swish, if I didn’t know that Gus would immediately leap on them and destroy them.
- Put a Bow On It Hold-Ups. Want. Need.
- Seams Perfect- Fully Fashioned Stockings. Fully fashioned stockings are crafted the way stockings were back in the day: they’re stitched with a seam up the back instead of being knitted all in one piece. Love these!
- Suspender Clips– these allow you to convert your favorite brief or thong into a suspender belt, so you can wear your stockings with any lingerie ensemble you choose. So smart I can’t even handle it.
- The Girl with the Lace Tattoo Leggings. Pretty! No idea where I’d wear them, but so lovely!
- You’re a Super Star Tights. YES.
- Seams Different- Back Seamed Stay Ups. Oh so lovely.
Caveat: because hosiery is considered intimate apparel, there are no returns, so please be aware as you shop. The prices are higher than some department store brands, but I think for the fashion and quality they’re eminently reasonable, even good! Peek Brooklyn’s website is outstanding: you can filter by pattern, style, and color, there are a few darling children’s options, and some very lovely bridal styles. Check them out! Also, now you know where to get all of my presents in the future. YOU’RE WELCOME.
